This Privacy Policy explains how Grey Root Labs ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Android application Rootline: Hacker Widgets (the "App"), which we publish on Google Play under the developer name Grey Root Labs.

In short: Rootline works entirely on your phone. No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking — and we never receive your data.

01 Who we are

The data controller responsible for the App is Grey Root Labs, an independent app developer based in Gujarat, India. You can reach us at codeninjaapps07@gmail.com for any question about this policy.

This policy covers the App identified above and no other product.

02 The short version

Rootline has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Every widget is drawn on your device. We do not run a server, and nothing about you is ever sent to us.

03 Information we do not collect

We do not collect or request:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
  • Your contacts, messages, call logs, or files
  • Camera or microphone access — the App does not request these permissions
  • Your precise or GPS location — the App never reads it
  • Your advertising ID
  • The content of your notifications

We do not sell your personal data.

04 Information stored only on your device

The App saves some data in its private storage on your device so your widgets work the way you set them up. This data never leaves your device:

  • Widget settings, layouts, colors, and the theme pack you choose
  • Habit counters, streaks, focus timers, and your pet's state
  • Daily step totals, to draw step history
  • Photos you pick for photo widgets — a copy is kept inside the App so the widget can display it
  • The city you choose for weather and sun widgets

We cannot read any of it. It is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data.

05 Network requests

Only two features use the internet, and neither sends personal identifiers:

FeatureWhat is sent, and to whom
Weather and sun widgetsThe map coordinates of the city you choose, or the name you search for, sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to get a forecast. This is not your device's location.
Network / ping widgetsA connection is opened to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) only to time how long it takes. No data is sent over it.

Like any internet service, these services receive your IP address and the time of the request. Their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policies.

06 Permissions, and why

Every permission is optional. The App asks for one only when you set up a widget that needs it, and you can say no or revoke it at any time in Android Settings. The data each one unlocks is used only to draw the widget and is never sent anywhere.

PermissionWhy
Physical activityStep widgets read the phone's step counter.
Calendar (read)Calendar widgets show the titles and times of today's events.
LocationAndroid only reveals your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) to apps that hold location permission. The App uses it for that alone and never reads your GPS position.
Nearby devicesBluetooth widgets show the names and battery level of connected devices.
Usage accessScreen-time widgets read how long you used apps today. Granted in system Settings.
Notification accessNow-playing widgets read the song title, artist and play state from the active media player. Notification content is never read or stored.
Alarms & remindersLets clocks change exactly on the minute.
InternetOnly for the weather and ping requests described above.

07 No advertising or analytics

The App contains no advertising and no analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. It does not access your advertising ID.

08 Sharing

We do not sell, share, rent, or transfer any personal data, because we never receive any.

09 Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — you may have rights to access, correct, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority.

Because the App keeps everything on your device and we run no servers, we hold no personal data about you. You can delete all App data at any time by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it. For any question, contact codeninjaapps07@gmail.com.

10 Data retention

Data stored on your device stays until you delete it, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. We retain nothing on our own systems.

11 How your data is protected

App data lives in Android's private app storage, which other apps cannot read. Weather requests use encrypted HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but because we collect nothing, there is nothing about you on our side to protect.

12 Children's privacy

The App is a home-screen personalisation tool and is not directed to children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in your country. It collects no personal data from anyone.

14 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and the in-app privacy screen will be updated in the next release.
